Enclosure is custom and self made
Modified extra radio enclosure (dremel, super glue, bondo, sand, paint)
Powered off of 12V line from computer
Auto power on

Peripherals
ElmScan 5 USB OBD-II Scan Tool
US GlobalSat BU-353 Weather-proof GPS Receiver
Powered USB hub - Powered from computer's 5V line

Emergency Lighting
Whelen Talon - blue/blue - LED - (Front)
SoundOff Signal Headlight Flasher - (highbeam) - (Front)

Install (internet from ethernet/phone network adapter bridging ((dhcp from phone and ICS are same, must bridge)))
/\ /\ /\ Above is a major problem. If I use ICS from phone to computer, and ICS from computer to router, both ICS networks uses the same IPs and it does not work. I briefly tried bridging the USB Network connection from the phone and the ethernet port to see if the phone would hand off more than 1 IP, but no luck yet. There may have been another problem. I'll work on this more when it's warm.

Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta 1 Released!!

Seriously, it's not a leak! They actually released it.

They fixed some major bugs that were killing me. For example, if you didn't use the on-screen keyboard, but used the an on-board keyboard, they text box would lose focus in a few places.

Go download it. Go fight of some apple fanboys. :-D  (I just pissed off half of my friends) ((and no jokes about me having 2 friends or something))

Edit: OMFG, it destroys your notification settings. I understand it's beta, but I seriously got screwed a few times. I get all of my emergency call outs via sms......  I can no longer in good conscience recommend this. Looking forward to future releases.

Edit2: Problem has been corrected, doesn't destroy notifications.

Long nerdy projects actually coming to an end. Ha! Proved you wrong!

Those who know me know I have a severely high level of nerdiness that probably borders on some form of a disorder.  My two largest projects recently involved my Vehicle and my Media Center PC.  A very detailed write-up on each project will be posted in the future.

Each project involved a very large amount of time, but wasn't too horrible on the budget at the same time.  This was pretty important since I was in college for most of it!

1. My 1996 ford explorer: On-Board x86 Computer Windows XP SP3, runs StreetDeck mobile software, GPS, touchscreen embedded in dashboard with custom bezel, MTX sound system, plenty of emergency lighting (not gaudy), and a 2-way VHF radio for ham/government

2. Media Center: Hauppauge HVR-1800 Cable Tuner with Digital OTA, 2 GB RAM, HD-DVD drive, Blu-Ray drive, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre, and VMC Netflix.

Facebook, you might have crossed that distant blurred line

Most of us enjoy the facebook.  Mostly because it keeps our friends close, but we can easily push them away when they get annoying. But seriously, I wouldn't do that to you guys......

Anyway, one of the latest features allows you to comment on a friend's Mini-Feed.  I'm going to specifically point out that this does involve relationship 'changes'.  If you want to say something, say it on the wall, or in a private message, or better yet: just call your friend....  Chances are that if you don't have their number, you shouldn't comment anyway.  Most people don't mind these items popping up on their Mini-Feed. Nothing wrong with it being known, but people micro-commenting on your life is a bit creepy.

So Peter votes +1, lets just remove that feature.

Native QAM in Media Center Might Be Almost Upon Us

This popped up on EngadgetHD and I'm very excited. Naturally, it's unofficial, but this would stop me from being very cranky. Native QAM support in Media Center would mean a much wider audience of Media Center. Mom and Pop could go to the store, pick up their Media Center, and get high def right off the bat.  Naturally, this means if this turns out to be false, I will slip into a deeper nerd depression

Update: Patch released to OEM

Happy Dependence Day

I'm not usually the type to copy and paste many IMs, but this was too good to fall into the oblivions of IM history

Bryan Jackson: For about 4 hours today I had people convinced that I "didn't support the 4th of July. I believe we should return to Mother England"
Bryan Jackson: and I told them about this whole "New Dependence Movement"
Bryan Jackson: I told them that on July 5th we were going to be holding a rally outside the British Embassy but that Britain didn't support it, so it made it harder.

Netflix profiles are now staying?

I recently brought up that Netflix was killing off profiles.  Well, now they're doubling back on that. So since you're going to keep them around, how about you allow the second profile to use "Watch It Now"?  I understand I can create 10 profiles and give it to my friends so they can use my unlimited, but I feel that can be programmed around.  Just my humble opinion.

Dear Peter,

You spoke, and we listened. We are keeping Profiles. Thank you for all the calls and emails telling us how important Profiles are.

We are sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused. We hope the next time you hear from us we will delight, and not disappoint, you.

-Your friends at Netflix

Edit: Oh ALSO! Please figure out a way for us to delete profiles.  I can help you drum up the SQL command if you really need me to.

John McCain is Cylon - Sweet!!!!

This came to my attention via a Digg comment and I've been laughing to myself ever since.  There is a pretty sweet resemblance. Though, I do have to admit, this photo below is MUCH better
