IDEN has been an on and off again relationship
with Sprint. Even Dan Hesse (CEO) admitted

To bridge the IDEN/CDMA PTT gap, Sprint has tried a few things:
1) PowerSource - Additional IDEN radio in phone for PTT
2) QCHAT - PTT data link to IDEN over CDMA

Sprint has now announced that #2 is no longer an option. Which means that my dream

MS has <strike>forced </strike>requested XDA-developers to remove links to ROMs that
feature WM 6.5's new features. They don't seem to mind if ROM chefs are using the
new bases. MS seems to be focuses on the new features like HoneyComb, the lock screen,
and new Today screen.

In theory, when XDA hackers gave us WM6.1 ROMs, we knew it was in the works for our
providers to offer us the update. But with Windows Mobile 6.5, Microsoft has already
announced that they will not allow device software upgrades to WM6.5.

It looks like Microsoft has contacted XDA-Developers admin and chefs to get all the
links removed. I hope something positive can come out of this, but I honestly doubt
it. I was looking forward to the new lock screen!

Side note: I'll be up for purchasing a new Windows Mobile phone soon. Microsoft will

- Upgrade codeplug to version 6A.04.01
- Upgrade flashstrap to version FS7fv00.24
- Upgrade CSD to version CXX.06.14 based on the service provider.
- Upgrade font pack to version 7F.00.07.00
- Upgrade French/Spanish/Portuguese/Arabic/Hebrew language pack to version 7F.00.30.02
- Upgrade carrier pack to version 7F.00.09.00
- Upgrade theme pack to version 7F.00.08.00 but Sprint, So Linc, Asia Generic, Brazil,
Telus, MIRS, KTP Korea, Peru, PTC Saudi, Mexico to 7F.00.08.01 and Boost to 7F.00.08.04
- If the user chooses to upgrade phone with default java applications, restores the
default java applications (the user must manually delete any previous java applications).

Sprint summarizes the changes as: Addresses issues with HTTP, TCP, and neighbor cell
list not being updated

Naturally, I haven't noticed any difference after the upgrade, but I like higher numbers.

I did attempt to do the depot install to not install the default java apps, but they're
still there. Maybe they're from the previous install. I just wanted them gone without
having to manually "deinstall"ing them

          I
rely on my Nextel for emergency pages from our Police Dispatch Center. Their system
pages out to Nextel phones only, but that's a different story. For the past
week and a half, I've been missing text messages. And I am not the one.

Luckily, our department has been semi-aware and we've been calling each other to relay
the messages. After each emergency call, I reboot my phone and all of a sudden
the messages come flowing through. I did a bit of some testing, and I get about
25% of text messages immediately. The other 75% if have to reboot my phone to
receive.

Nextel Customer Care confirmed this problem. They've had nationwide problems with
delayed/missed text messages. Their official recommendation is to reboot the phone.

There is a good side to this though: the Nextel Customer Care center I got @ 11PM
on a Saturday was in Washington, USA. The lady I talked to was extremely knowledgeable
and very understanding. That was enough to calm me down and make me think they
were devoting their resources to correcting the problem! I don't have a text
messaging plan since I do not get enough emergency pages per month to make it worth
my while to buy a text messaging plan. So I thanked the lady and asked if I could
get reimbursed for all the test text messages I sent to myself. Got this email
a few minutes later

I had never been a Sprint customer, and had no plans until I needed a Nextel. I was actually very impressed on how well it performed, and how useful it was. Then, they surprised everyone by releasing QCHAT on their CDMA Rev A network which interoperates with Nextel. This was something they should've done the day they purchased Nextel. Having two incompatbile networks just was a bad move and was why they bled customers.

So now that they have the late capability with some new handsets. About 4 phones I
believe have this new QCHAT ability. I've searched high and low to see if they're
going to have QCHAT on their future Windows mobile devices like the Touch Diamond
and Touch Pro.

I got official word from Sprint:

I do apologize, but we do not have any devices coming out with those qualifications.

If you have any questions or need further assistance please feel free to respond to
this e-mail.

Thank you again for contacting Sprint Customer Service. We

Sprint

This brings a frown to my face. They have the only PTT network that people commonly
know about. They need to have every freaking phone support their PTT and/or license
it to other networks. It's rediculous that they don't have a common national PTT network.

Sorry for the rant, but I've tried to hope that Sprint would solidify their PTT network,
but time will tell.

Now I am 'pretty' sure about this part. QCHAT uses Java, therefore it could work on
a Windows Mobile phone

Each project involved a very large amount of time, but wasn't too horrible on the
budget at the same time. This was pretty important since I was in college for
most of it!

1. My 1996 ford explorer: On-Board x86 Computer Windows XP SP3, runs StreetDeck

sound system, plenty of emergency lighting (not gaudy), and a 2-way VHF radio for

Mobile 9.5 has been something many have been looking forward to for a long time!!
It generates full websites and does NOT need the mobile version that many sites provide.
Some betas popped up on <strike>XDA
recently</strike>1409
build. It performs EXTREMELY well for a beta on my Kaiser (AT&T Tilt)
running WM 6.1. I highly recommend it to anyone using Windows Mobile!

Set this browser to be your default via the registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:DEFBROWSER.
I just changed :MSPIE to "/windows/operal.exe". You should be able to go back
to MSIE, but why would you? I found that reg key from the 1409 link. Thanks

Edit: Modified pic to show actual screenshot of application. Pic taken with Remote
Zoom-in

Edit2: Also like to bleed my memory and not release it, just FYI

Edit3: 1409 build added. much more stable, rapes ram less. Also added regi option
for def browser. Why wasn't this in the app?
